I was born into a farming family in Mazabuka, Zambia, and today I live in Cape Town. My deep love of nature in all its forms has always guided my painting, and every work I create tells a story.

I paint only from life. When I am outdoors, surrounded by the living energy of the landscape, I feel a sense of wholeness with nature. That excitement is what I try to put onto canvas, wood, or paper. I will spend hours working on site, whether in freezing wind, rain, or sweltering sun, because I believe that art, like nature, cannot be compromised. It must be experienced first-hand.

As I often say: “Now is my time on earth, the power I have is in the present. The excitement of the scene, the moment in time, the live model, cannot be captured through my very mediocre photographs.”

Every painting I create has a story attached to it, telling the story of the moment. Portraiture is a particular interest of mine, and I do accept commissions under certain conditions.

In 2001, I was delighted to have success at the Vuleka competition with Sanlam, where my painting Cloud Shadows was sold to a buyer in the United Kingdom. Over the years, my work has found homes across the world, through exhibitions with the Cape Gallery, Carmel Gallery, Frame Craft at the V&A Waterfront, Gallery Sharon in Somerset West, The Travel Centre at Somerset Mall, and at Kirstenbosch with the Cape Original Artists, Professional Cape Artists, and the century-old South African Society of Artists, which remains my preferred art group.
